FOR THE LOVE OF BRYAN
                      Chapter One

Rainbow held on to Starlite's mane as tight as
she could as they sailed across the sky.  "Slow down
Starlite!" she called over the roar of the wind.
"Your gonna cause me and Twink to fall off!"

"Sorry, Rainbow, when your the most magnificent
horse in the galaxy, it's easy to go to extremes."
Her horse said with a chuckle, but he slowed his pace
down to a mere gallop.

Rainbow noticed a dreary looking bush and stuck
her hand out to Twink behind her.  "Twink, I need some
green star sprinkles."  Twink placed them in her palm,
and Rainbow then tossed them on to the bush.  Like
magic, the dull green sprang to a bright brilliant
color.

"Look, Rainbow," Twink said pointing over her
shoulder.  "There's Bryan's house, maybe we should
stop in and say hi!"

"Hmm, maybe your right Twink.  It has been a long
time since Bryan's been to visist us.  Must be about
10 years by now."  Rainbow shrugged her shoulders.
"Ever since he saw Red kissing me on the cheek, he
hasn't come back, and he goes inside when ever he sees
us coming."

Starlite came to a stop above Brian's house.
"That means he would be 21 years old now, Rainbow.
He's probably forgotten all about us."  He looked down
at the ranch-styled house.  "He may even have children
of his own by now."

"Gee, thanks, Starlite, that was a real vote of
confidence."  Rainbow said rolling her eyes at the
horse.  "What would I ever do without you?"

     "Walk." Starlite answered.

"Go on, Starlite, I don't think this is a good
idea.  I still look like a human child even though I
was born before this town was even settled.  It
wouldn't be right for me to visit a grown-up.  He
would probably be uncomfortable, like he was talking
to a kindergardener."

"Maybe Shy Violet can come up with something that
will make you look older."  Twink piped from behind
her.

"Maybe your right!"  Rainbow exclaimed her eyes
lighting up with hope.  "Starlite, back to Rainbow
Land and make it fast!!!"
                   FOR THE LOVE OF BRYAN
                       Chapter Two

Starlite rushed over the rainbow to the end,
which sat the Color Castle.  He jumped from the
rainbow to the top of one of the towers, then landed
gracefully on the ground.  Before he had completely
regained his balance from the long jump, Rainbow was
off his back and rushing into the Castle.

"Where's Violet?"  She asked breathlessly as she
ran into her best friend Patty O'Green.  Patty caught
her by the elbow to keep them both from crashing to
the ground.

"Whoa, girl."  Patty laughed, "What's the rush?"
She smiled at Rainbow curiously.

"Can't talk now, I've got to find Violet."
Rainbow said quickly.  She pulled her arm loose and
sprinted towards the stairs.

"Did I hear someone calling my name?"  A timid
voice sounded forom the hallway.  Rainbow stopped in
her tracks and pun around to face the shyest of all
her friends.

"Violet,"  RAinbow said, her face breaking out in
a huge smile.  "I desperalty need you help."  Rainbow
jumped down the staies and hugged the violet color
kid.

"And what help might you need, Rainbow?"  Shy
Violet asked hesitently.  She knew some of the
outrageous things her friends could ask her for.

"I need a-"  Rainbow searched for the right word,
"a potion to mke me look older.  Can you come up with
something like that?"

Shy Violet leaned her head to the side as she
looked at Rainbow thoughtfully.  "A potion.  To make
you look older.  Why would you want to look older,
Rainbow."

"I need to look like i'm twenty in human years."
She tried to explain.  "I want to go talk to-"

"Bryan."  A voice interupted her.  Rainbow turned
slowly to look at REd Butler, her close male friend,
and Bryan's arch rival..

"Yes, to go see Bryan."  She finished.  She
turned back to Shy Violet.  "Can you do it?"

FOR THE LOVE OF BRYAN
                       Chapter Three

Shy Violet put her finger on her lips, apparently
deep in thought.  "Well, if you take in the
metabolical state of the brain and the factors of the
negative ions in the human DNA and ours, then of
course there is the factor of the different nucleous
charges, hmmm."

Rainbow just stared at her.  "Huh?"

"Yes, I think I may just have an idea to go about
this."

"Oh thank you, Violet!"  Rainbow cheered hugging
the color kid as hard as she could.  "You don't know
what this means to me!"

"Well, if you would let me breath, I might be
able to figure it out."  Violet said in a gasp.

"Did you hear that Twink, she thinks she can help
me.."  Rainbow trailed off as she turned to her sprite
friend.  Red Butler was looking at her, his eyes full
of confusion.

"I don't understand why you want to do this,
Rainbow."   He whispered.  "Bryan never comes to see
us, why should you change yourself entirely for him?"

"It's hard to explain, Red, it's just something I
have to do."  Rainbow turned back to Violet.  "When
will you have it ready?" She asked.

"Give me until tomorrow morning." Violet said
turning around.  She called back over her shoulder,
"i'll be in the lab if anyone needs me."

"I'm going upstairs to get a little sleep Twink,
please tell everyone to leave me alone.  I've got a
long day ahead of me tomorrow."  She smiled to
herself, and began humming her favorite song as she
climbed up the stairs.

"Rainbow, wait!"  Red called after her, but she
either didn't hear him or she just refused to stop.
He started after her, but Starlite moved to block the
path.

"Leave her be, Butler.  Now is not the time for
you to go confuse her."  He looked up after Rainbow.
"Bryan can handle that on his own."

"It's not right for her to go leaving everything
she has here to chase after a boy that doesn't even
want her!" Red said, his voice rising in anger.  He
beat his fist in the palm of his hand.  "Look around
Starlite, what's not here that she could possible
want?"

Starlite looked down at the boy, "Maybe it's not
waht she wants, it's what she needs."
                         * * *

Rainbow closed the door to her room behind her.
"Tommorrow is the night you've been waiting for your
whole life, Wisp."  She told her reflection.  "I just
hope Bryan remembers me."  She took the ribbon out of
her hair and watched as it fell down her shoulders.
There was something about Rainbow Land that caused
it's inhabitatns not to age.  She had looked the way
she presently did since she first stepped foot on the
planet.  "It's time for a cahnge, Rainbow."

She reached into the vanity drawer, and pulled
out a sharp pair of scissors.  She placed them against
the hair even with her shoulders and closed her eyes.
Snip, snip.  She stopped cutting and slowly opened one
eye.  "Figures."  She sighed.  There was cut hair on
the floor beside her, but her long blonde locks had
remained the same.

She looked in the mirror and noticed that night
had fallen in the window behind her.  She put the
scissors back in the stand and walked over to the
balconey.  "Hey, Moonglow."  She called softly down to
her friend.  "Can you talk for a minute?"

Moonglo dropped her night sprinkles and looked up
in surprise at Rainbow.  "Are you sure?  I mean, cause
Starlite and Twink told everyone to leave you alone."

Rainbow nodded and touched her color belt.  A
rainbow quickly flowed out and swept Moonglow off her
feet.  She laughed as it carried her up to the balcony
and to Rainbow.  "I just wanted to ask you to watch
over Rainbow Land for me while I'm gone. Can you do
that for me?"

Moonglow dropped her gaze to the ground and
nervously entertwined her fingers.  "Plkease tell me
you'll help."  Rainbow pleaded.

"I'll help ou Rainbow, but I don't think you
should go."  Moonglow blurted out.  "It's not a good
hing to do, Rainbow, what if violet can't change you
back."

"I won't need to be changed back, Moonglow."
Rainbow tried to explain.  "I'll be the same person,
I'll just look...older."  Rainbow smiled as she ried
to explain.

"But you'll be different from the rest of us."
Moonglow said softly.  "And I don't think anyone will
like that, Rainbow, ecspecialy Red Butler.
FOR THE LOVE OF BRYAN
                       Chapter four

"Red and I haven't been together in five years,
Moonglo."  Rainbow sighed looking out at the night
sky.  "I don't know what happened with us.  One day we
were fine and happy, the next we both went our
seperate ways.  We haven't even been that close
lately.  I don't know why he doesn't want me to go."

"It's the male hormone."  Moonglo said seriously
which caused Rainbow to break out in laughter.  "I
don't think he doesn't want you with Brian
specifically, just not without him.  Does that make
any sense?"

Rainbow nodded. "Unfortunatly it does.  But I
have to do this.  I miss Brian alot."  She paused.  "I
love him, Moonglo."  She whispered, a small tear
forming in the corner of her eye.

Moonglo shook her head as she walked out the
door.  She spoke softly, but loud enough that she was
sure Rainbow would hear her.  "No, Rainbow, you love
what he used to be."   With that Moonglo walked out
the room and let the door shut behind her.

Rainbow looked over her shoulder and spoke to
where Moonglo last stood.  "He couldn't have changed
that much."  She turned back around, "could he?"

                      * * *

The next morning Rainbow lay asleep in her bed
when the strong sunlight burst in her room.  She
automatically shielded her eyes against the glare, but
to no avail.  "Gosh Sunriser, can't I sleep ten more
minutes?"  She grumbled.  "Oh my gosh!"  She cried
bolting upright in her bed.  "I almost forgot!"  She
jumped down and ran to her closet.  Pulling out
another version of the same outfit she wore everyday,
she pulled it quickly over her head.  After an
exremely quick trip to the bathroom to wash up,
Rainbow burst out of her room and pratically flew down
the stairs.

Knocking down Canary Yellow at the bottom, and
calling out an apology over her shoulder, Rainbow ran
into the Color Castle's laboratory.  "Violet?" She
called to her friends back who was sitting at a long
black counter.  "Did you make it?"  She asked
desperatly.

Violet spun around in the chair to face the girl.
"Yes, I believe I've figured out the correct ratio of
all the chemicals."  She handed Rainbow a vial filled
with a bright green bubbling liquid.  "You'll either
age rapidly into a human adult form, or your skin will
take on a green glow for the next month.

Rainbow arched an eyebrow at Violet, but then
just shrugged her shoulders.  "Do I drink it all?"
She asked looking at the green mess hesitantly.

Violet nodded and began to speak, but was
interrupted by the color kids entering the room.  "We
all thought we should be here for you,"  Indigo said
coming forward with a smile.

"Yeah,"  agreed Tickled Pink.  "We couldn't have
you leave us wihtout saying goodbye. Besides, this
I've got to see!"

"You sure you don't want me to go with you?"
Buddy BLue spoke up.  He flexed his muscles.  "You
never know, you may need a bodyguard."  He chuckled.

Rainbow looked around at her friends, her heart
sinking a little.  This would be the first time she
had ever left her friends for more than the usual few
hours it took to brighten up the world.  She would
miss them terribly.  But...seeing Bryan again would
make up for it all.

"You won't hve any of your powers, Rainbow."
Violet said breaking Rainbow from her thoughts.
"That's one of the side affects of it aging you so
quickly."

"No powers?"  Patty O'Green shrieked.   "Without
her powers there will never be anymore color!"

"No powers ever again?"  Rainbow whispered,
suddenly afraid.  She didn't know if she could leave
Rainbow Land forever...

Chapter Five
"No, not forever," Shy Violet reasured Rainbow.
"You've only got two weeks before you return to
normal.  the serum doesn't change your DNA, it
elasticises it.  One of the ingredients keeps it
open, but the others will eventually ears it back
down.  When that happens,"  Violet snapped her
fingers, "Your DNA will snap back to normal.

In a way Rainbow felt relieved, yet another part
of her was actually sad that she would have to come
back.  "Alright, just drink it?"

    "Just drink it."  Violet nodded.

Rainbow tipped the vile bacl against her pale
lips.  "Stop!"  Red Butler yelled running into the
room.  But, it was too late.  Rainbow felt the
liquid enter her mouth, burning as it flowed down
her throat.  She dropped the vile, her hands flying
to her neck.  She gsped for air, her eyes roaming
about widly.  Patty screamed as Rainbo fell to the
floor.

Twink rushed to his fallen leader.  "Rainbow!"
He reached out to touch her.

"No," Shy Violet interviened grabbing hte white
sprite by his arm.  "Don't touch her.  She's almost
done changing."  As Violet finished, Rainbow began
to physically change.  The group watched, some in
horror, some in awe.  Rainbow's body slowly, but
steadily elongated and filled out dramatically.
Tickled Pink's mouth dropped open, and Moonglo
gasped.

Laying before the inhabitants of Rainbowland
wasn't Rainbow anymore-it was a human.  "Is she
alright?"  Patty asked concerned.  "She's not
moving, Violet!"

As Patty spoke the group noticed Rainbow
openeing her eyes.  They flutters a bit as they
refocuesd to the bright interior lights, but she
could soon focus on her friends.

All of them except Shy Violet and Starlite were
looking at her as if she was alien, someon they had
never seen before.  She felt cooler than before, and
looking down, she realized why.  Her clothes had not
stretched with her body.  Oh, they still covered
her, but barely.

She carefully stood up, aware of how she towered
over everyone else.  She walked to the window,
wanting to see her reflection.  When she did, it
took her breath away.  She was stunning, absolutly
stunning.  Granted she needed new clothes, but
physically she looked like a young human woman.

"Oh, thank you, Violet."  She said, but someone
else spoke over her.  Rainbow looked around before
she realized it was her new voice.  "Oh, she laughed
at her self.  She reached for her belt, but neither
felt nor saw it.

"It's meant for one of us, Rainbow." Lala Orange
said picking the belt up off the floor where it had
fallen from Rainbow's growing body.  "It won't fit
you now."

Rainbow nodded in understanding.  "Give it to
Moonglo.  She's to be in charge while I'm gone."  At
this Stormy stomped her foot.

"This is stupid, Rainbow!"  She snapped, but the
group could tell she was honestly concerned for
Rainbow.  "If the belt won't fit you, how is
Starlite supposed to carry you to Earth?"  Stormy
asked surprising the group.  None of them had
thought of that before.

"Starlite, is the most magnificent horse in the
universe." He said shaking out his long rainbow
striped mane.  "But even I can't travel all the way
to Earth without the rainbow.  "Does any body have
any suggestions?"  The horse looked around the
group, but all but Twink was shaking her head.

"Can't moonglo just make a rainbow and let
Starlite ride her and Rainbow down there?"  He asked
the group.

"I can't carry that much weight to the ground."
Starlite said.  "Earth's gravity would destroy the
rainbow and I woldn't be able to get home."  He
twitched his tail.  "And I am far too magnificent to
be a common horse!"

"Cant Moonglo ride with you and recreate the
Rainbow?"  Lala asked, but Moonglo vetoed this idea
quickly.  "I don't like to go that fast, or that
high."  She looked out the window at the bright sky.

"I may make the night sky beautiful, but that
doesn't mean I want to be up there."

Rainbow looked at Moonglo with pleading eyes.
"Please, Moonglo, just his once."

"I can't Rainbow."  She said hanging her head.
"I'm sorry, but I just can't."

Rainbow sat down on the floor and burined her
face in her hands.  "This isn't fair..."  She
sobbed.  She felt a hand on her shoulder.  She
pulled her hads away and looked up in shock to who
was comforting her.

"I know how you can get there, Rainbow."  Stormy
said givig Rainbow a lopsided grin.

"Oh, Stormy, please tell me how."  Rainbow
begged.

"Skydancer can take you to Earth through the
storm clouds.  Of course that means that Earth will
have one hellacious storm this summer, but you will
get to see Bryan after it's done."

Red snorted.  "That still doesn't give her a way
to the ground Stormy."  He sounded cynicaly, but
inside he was so glad that Rainbow wasn't able to
get to Earth.

"Boy,  you are dense.  Stormy said over her
shoulder to the red color kid.  "Have some common
sense will ya."  she turned to the group.  "What
naturally comes after a storm?"

    "A rainbow." Starlite said.

"Exactly."  Stormy said with a grin.   "Skydancer
can take her to Earth, then when they get there,
Moonglo can create a more powerful rainbow, and then
Brite can simply slide down it to get to Earth."

Red shook his head, upset that Stormy had
figured it out.  "But how would she get back?"  He
snapped.

"The same way, I reckon."  Stormy said shrugging
her shoulders.  "How should I know.  I had my
creative moment for the day."

"I'm not worried about that right now, Red."
Rainbow said, wiping her eyes and standing back up.
"I'll have plenty of time to worry about that after
I get to Earth."  Rainbow hugged each of her
friends.  "I'm going to miss you all so much."  The
last in line was Red. Rainbow felt ackward, having
to bend down to reach him.  "'l'll miss you the
most, Red."  She whispered in his ear,  "Please
believe me when I sa this is for the best."

Red just looked into her eyes for a moment, then
turned and ran out of the castle.  Rainbow watched
him go, but only for a moment, then turned to
Stormy, "Well, let's go find Skydancer."
For the Love of Bryan Chapter Six

It didn't take long for the group to locate Skydancer.
He was drinking calmly from the Rainbow River.  "Let
me tell him."  Stormy said, walking up to the horse.
After a brief hesitation, she walked back, and
Skydancer turned to follow her.  "He said he'd take
you, but he had to go now, he's already got plans for
the rest of the day."

Rainbow took a deep breath.  "All right then, let's
go," She said.  She walked over to Starlite.  "I'm
going to miss you most of all." She whispered as he
snuggled against her cheek.

"Go on and get this over with so you can come back."
He said huskily.  "Now go on, you know how I hate
goodbyes."

"You're right, I need to go."  She walked up to
Skydancer and pulled herself up onto his back.  She
held onto his mane tightly as he began his climb to
the clouds.  She watched as her friends grew smaller
and smaller, and the clouds grew larger and larger.

"Oh!" She exclaimed as the hard rain and wind hit her.
She leaned forward and down, using Skydancer as a
shield.  "How does Stormy do this?" She asked outloud.
The ride to Earth was much longer this way, and much
more painful.

When Earth finally came into sight, Rainbow was
battered, bruised, and completely disarrayed by the
wind.  "There." She said pointing at a ranch styled
house.  Soon, Skydancer's feet touched the ground and
Rainbow slid to off of him.  He didn't waste any time
in leaving, and Rainbow was soon standing alone.

Rainbow hesitantly ran her fingers through her long
blonde hair, trying to tame it.  She eventually gave
up.  Several ideas on what to do next ran through her
mind at once, but she settled on the first one.  Just
go right up to the door and knock.  And she did.

Crossing her fingers behind her back, Rainbow tapped
lightly on the wooden door.  After a moment she heard
light footsteps and the door began to open...

"Can I help you?" An older regal looking man said, as
he came into view.

"Yes please, is Bryan home?" Rainbow asked sweetly.
The man nodded and stepped out of site.  Moments
later, another man, this one much younger came into
view.  He had longish brown bangs that fell just to
his eyebrows, and eyes that Rainbow could never
forget.

"Bryan." She whispered, just to be sure.

The young man nodded.  "Yes, and you are?" He asked.

"Bryan, it's me Rainbow." She said, all but rushing
towards him and embracing him tightly.

"Rainbow?"  Bryan said quizically, like trying the
name for the first time.  He shrugged his shoulders.

"It's me, Rainbow, Rainbow Brite." She tried again.
"We knew each other a long time ago."

Bryan narrowed his eyebrows, and tilted his head to
the side.  "I'm sorry, but I don't remember you."
